Recognition Chest Of Hope Current Projects Welcome to our website and thank you for your interest in what we do Our organization was founded out of the need to facilitate the growing overpopulation and lack of facilities and resources for At-risk children and women and children of domestic violence, and the state of homelessness in Trinidad and Tobago. Through implementation of programs that will benefit in areas of education, health, nutrition and housing, Chest of Hope will attempt to improve the standards of the less fortunate and those in need. Merlyn Pittman Founder of Chest Of Hope Merlyn's career as a Corrections officer has allowed her to interact with a very diverse, multiethic, and multicultural population.  Her concerns for the plight of the less fortunate is foremost in her commitment to "Give back". She solely prepared home cooked meals and fed the homeless for many years in Miami Florida and organized care packages to send to orphans in Grenada and Trinidad. Her desire to make a difference in the lives of children is complemented by several years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and volunteering in orphanages and women's shelters in Tobago, providing food, clothing and additional resources. She is a skilled implementer and has worked with homeless and domestic violence shelters in the US. She also hosts workshops on domestic violence awareness and speaks at various women's events. Merlyn was born in Trinidad where she attended Wood Brook Secondary. She holds degrees in Business Administration and Criminal Justice. Her faith and steadfast desire to assist children and women on a global level helped conceive Chest Of Hope in 2005. The organization was then developed along with a board of directors whose convictions match her own.
